Hello, a bit about me...

Welcome to my website! I am a creative, hard-working, optimistic and organised 20-year-old Multimedia Journalism student at the University of Northampton. I aspire to work in the field of print or online journalism after graduating in July 2018. I believe that it is important to be a multi-skilled individual in the industry, despite my preference for print journalism. My course has ensured that I am trained for print, radio, TV, digital and social media platforms.

I enjoy reporting on both difficult topics and more light-hearted ones. I have conducted emotional interviews about sexual assault at Universities, homelessness and the need for more bone marrow donations. On the other hand, I have created content about felines for Britain's best-selling cat magazine, interviewed a lot of local musicians due to a strong interest in music journalism and I have even interviewed a hotel manager about a Christmas promotion, where couples named Joseph and Mary could stay the night for free! I have acquired a lot of skills in the areas of: writing articles for print and online platforms, producing packages, conducting interviews and transcribing them, taking on editorial roles and carrying out studio roles - from presenting to operating a camera, during my time at University.

Aside from my course, I have interned at different journalistic organisations. I learned how to adhere to an in-house style while interning at BPG Media. This work placement was a brilliant experience and boosted my portfolio with digital and magazine articles. I also had a week of work experience at BBC Radio Northampton which really enhanced my ability to communicate with the public.

I hope to showcase the best of my abilities in the journalism field through this medium. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any enquiries.

Thanks,

Jade Williams
